Take for example, the case when the insured fell from a building during a rooftop party, International recoveries retained a forensic pharmacologist who, based on the insured’s blood alcohol content (“BAC”) at the time he was admitted to the hospital, calculated the insured’s BAC at the time of the occurrence and found a nexus between that BAC and the accident.

First Party Defense
Courts can impose sanctions for wrongful denial of a claim by an insurer that may include punitive damages, interest and/or costs including counsel fees. In the case of an air ambulance repatriation, we were able to save the insurer a fortune from a wrongfully submitted claim.
