Richard D. Atkins - General Counsel
Dick Atkins is General Counsel and co-founder in 1998 of International Recoveries, LLC, a pioneering provider of legal services for the international travel insurance industry. Dick has been active with the International Travel insurance Conference for the past 24 years, where he makes frequent conference presentations. Dick remains active as Committee Chair of the United States Travel Insurance Association with whom he was a Board member for six years. He is also a long-time active member of the Travel Health Insurance Association of Canada.
Dick is responsible for International Recoveries singular 24/7 global legal hotline service for travel insurance companies, their assistance companies and insureds including business and leisure travelers, expats and inbound and outbound study abroad students. The Hotline provides emergency legal consultations, legal referrals and legal case coordination for the wide variety of legal problems encountered while traveling, such as traffic violations, criminal cases, and civil matters, including accidental injury cases. Dick created this legal service thirty-five (35) years ago for the assistance industry, adding travel insurance as that industry developed.
A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Law School (J.D.), Dick is active on the Board of Managers of its Law Alumni Society and is a Board member of its Public Service program. He also served on the Governing Council of the IBA (International Bar Association). In recognition of Dick’s legal work on behalf of American travelers arrested in foreign countries, “National Geographic Adventure Magazine” called him “the Houdini of fast escapes from international prisons.”

Laurence M. Levin - Managing Director
Larry Levin has specialized in subrogation for forty years, with an exclusive focus on
medical lien subrogation for the international travel insurance industry since he co-founded International Recoveries in 1998.
He has handled subrogation claims in
every US state and Canadian province as well as in countries across Europe, South America, Asia and Africa.
A speaker on subrogation issues at both industry conferences and for clients, Larry has written several articles on subrogation for the International Travel Insurance Journal, the most recent of which, “Into the Hopper:
Subrogation ABC’s “ has been widely circulated. His experience with subrogation isn’t limited to accident/liability matters; he has handled retroactive contribution for both foreign and domestic clients.
A New York Times best-selling author, he is the father of twin sons: Noah, an analyst in the financial industry and Dan, a USMC Special Operations Amphibious Reconnaissance Corpsman.
